Appearing in blue prison clothing, O. J. Simpson got yet one more chance to enjoy freedom as District Judge Jackie Glass doubled his bail and set it at $250,000. Simpson was returned to jail from his home in Florida when it was determined that he violated the conditions of his bail by attempting to contact a codefendant in the armed robbery case.
According to a Los Angeles Times report Judge Glass had some harsh comments for Simpson.
“If you violate those rules and anything happens like this in the future, you’ll be back and locked up in the Clark County Detention Center,” she warned Simpson.
“I don’t know, Mr. Simpson, what the heck you were thinking, or maybe that’s the problem — you weren’t,” Glass said.
“I don’t know if it’s just arrogance. I don’t know if it’s ignorance. But you’ve been locked up at the Clark County Detention Center since Friday because of arrogance or ignorance or both.”
Simpson’s trial is set for April ’08.
In an earlier blog one of the questions raised was “Is O. J. Simpson effecting by his choices self-sabotage?” I believe he is. I believe that the laws of the universe are at work and O. J., whether consciously or unconsciously, is choosing behaviors that will ultimately land him in prison.
Every choice has a consequence. As a business ethics speaker, I address groups routinely talking about the Truth about Consequences. Whether the consequence happens quickly and directly relates to the choice or whether the consequence takes time and may be disconnected to the original choice – either way – there is still a consequence for every action or every choice.
